Police arrest man for stealing phones in churches

The police in Ogun State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Olusuyi Ayomide, for allegedly stealing two BlackBerry phones during church services in two different churches.
Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Ayomide, who lives in the Atapila Camp area of Abeokuta, Odeda Local Government Area, stole the phones in two of the Pentecostal churches on Sunday around 12.5pm.
The PPRO said, “The suspect went into the churches one after
the other while the services were on and smartly stole two BlackBerry phones belonging to the members of the congregations of the churches.”
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that the culprit was later arrested by policemen attached to Obantoko Police Station with the help of members of the churches.
“The suspect, who will be charged to court immediately the command completes its investigation, has been condemned by his parents who confirm him as a notorious thief and recalcitrant,” the PPRO added.
Adejobi said the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had urged the residents of the state to be more conscious and protect their property from the hands of hoodlums who paraded themselves as  neighbours or friends.
He said, “The commissioner also advised the public, particularly churches and other worship centres, to beef up their internal security arrangement and carry the police around them along.”
