The court hearings of Governor Ibikunle Amosun vs Mr Wasiu Ogunnoiki case at Sagamu Magistrate’s court, Ogun State, continued on September 2, 2014, Tuesday.
The 31-year-old man, who allegedly works as commercial motorcyclist, was accused of
engagement in the acts on social media (Facebook), which dented the image of the state’s governor, TheNation reports.
The accused has allegedly used his account to publish information that property owners, whose houses were demolished as per Amosun’s order, did not receive any proper compensation.
Ogunnoiki was also accused of uploading pictures of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagamu Local Government Area, claiming that the politician in cooperation with Labour Party (LP) chiefs have been mastering plans to impeach Amosun before and in 2015 general elections.
State authorities considered that such posts could “incite the citizens against the governor”.
According to the prosecution, the mentioned acts contravened Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Volume II Laws of Ogun State 2006.
